10 Day Cleanse Results

Let me start by saying, I am so proud of myself! 10 days of REALLY healthy eating is not something I would normally opt in for. But I DID IT

By the end of yesterday, I didn't even care anymore how much weight I lost. The fact that I felt so great for following through with it was all that counted. {Not gonna lie though, pizza is on the food agenda tonight}

I craved bread and cheese more than I craved sugar! I'm telling you, dairy and carbs are my ULTIMATE weakness!

I stepped on the scale this morning, I lost 3.2 pounds! That's a lot for me. I get stuck in ruts sometimes where each week the scale barely budges even when I count my calories and work out throughout the week. [it's those dang grilled cheeses! haha]

But again, I am trying really hard not to focus so much on the scale. Since I did the cleanse, I was curious of the results.

I also took measurements before and after. I lost a combined 1.5 inches off my body! I knew I was making progress when my pants started to fit a little better.

I am happy with my results. But now it's time to decide how I am going to keep up the progress.  I don't want to throw it all away by eating bad again.

I'm thinking a weekly sugar allowance?

* BTW, if anyone is curious, I bought THIS 10 Day Cleanse by Advocare *

For TBT (Throwback Thursday), here's my inspiration. Can I get back to this please?

On our honeymoon in 2012

I was so happy at this weight. I honestly would have been happy maintaining this weight. I wouldn't worry about losing any more.

But NO I had to go on 3 weeks worth of cruising and be fat. Once I gained like 10 pounds, I pretty much gave up. WHICH WAS A MISTAKE. I WISH I only have 10 pounds to lose now. I could kick myself.

I'm the type of person that needs a picture of a goal in mind to keep me going. This is my picture.

But it's all about looking forward now. One pound at a time. I can do this.

I get so overwhelmed when I think about how far away I am from my goal. But I just keep telling myself that its a process, I can't lose weight overnight. I celebrate every pound lost but don't concentrate too much on it. My main goal is to be healthy and happy!

Snack Attack!

My friend, Lauren, from Naturally Sweet made me THESE amazing HEALTHY granola bars that were gone within minutes of receiving them!

I am tempted to go out and buy the ingredients to make them and use them for a healthy snack when I am not at home.

Nothin' like chocolate to get you going ;)

I am also looking for other ideas/recipes for healthy snacks that I can bring with me. So, feel free to comment on this post to share your wonderful insight!

Stay tuned! Thursday I will be sharing my 10 day cleanse results! I am so excited to share my progress :)

Coupons! (Q-pons?)

So I recently figured out that I must have some Northern blood in me.

My husband (and a few others that I know) say "Q-pon." Why do I say it differently? It's not like I was raised up north or anything. "Q-pon" just sounds so southern to me.

Not like I can talk, I say "pee-can."

Anyway, here's my 2 CVS shopping trips for the new weekly ad that came out yesterday! Hope you didn't forget to get your 2 Sunday Newspapers :)

If you need to brush up on your basics, check out my first post HERE!

*side note: in the newspaper insert this week, the CVS weekly ad had a SPECIAL 20% all regularly priced items coupon. It was only available in the newspaper weekly ad and not in the ones you find in store. Make sure you cut it out from BOTH weekly ads since we have 2 trips.*

*Also, make sure you always scan your card at the Coupon Printer at CVS or check your ExtraCare Status on their website for coupons. I got a coupon for $3/$15 purchase of Vitamins, $2.50/$12 purchase of Hair Color and $2/$10 purchase of Shampoo/conditioner. I was able to use both for this trip!*

Keep in mind, a lot of these purchases are also good toward our Beauty Club Enrollment. For every $50 you spend on beauty products, we get $5EB. We have probably accumulated enough for $5EB that we can use next week as well!

We will also be using those $5EB that were leftover from the Second Trip next week! So hang on to them :)

Non-Scale Victories Week 1

button

I am loving this linkup where bloggers, lifebylex.com and ktjweighingin.com, highlight their weekly victories that are NOT scale related.

So here's to my first week of non-scale victories!

I was excited to see my fitness summary for the week (on MapMyRun.com) :

Workin' up a sweat ;)

That's about 1200 calories burned in one week just from running!

If you would have told me a year ago that I would ever get to a point where I am burning that many calories from running, I would have BELLY LAUGHED in your face!

I hated running. It's still not my favorite thing to do. But I do it to see myself progress like this!

Last month, I started upper body weight training with the hubs so we would have something we could enjoy together. {Not that upper body is enjoyable! Ha}

We would go twice a week for weight training. The first day was chest and arms, and the second day was shoulders and back. I started taking random flex breaks after working out just to see if there was any visible progress. THERE WAS:

I could even start to see the flab on my arms slowly shrinking.

This is the stuff that keeps me going. I would encourage anyone trying to accomplish a fitness goal [or any goal for that matter] to write down their mini-victories each week. It's so easy to forget how much progress you are making until you see it right before your eyes!

Random Bits

So, I am currently done with Day 4 of the cleanse.

It's funny how you don't crave food as much when you CAN'T have sugar.

I'm excited to see the results at the end of day 10!

Tomorrow I'll be updating my meal plans for the last 5 days of the Cleanse, including my shopping list. Maybe one day I'll look back at this when I want to do another cleanse :D

On another food note, tonight Jon and I made lettuce-wrapped burgers and they were DELISH!
I used lean ground beef, reduced-fat provolone, baby bell mushrooms and a tad bit of ketchup to make up my burger.

Yummy, yummy!

I Love Saving Money!

{This post will be long so prepare yourselves}

Every week, I look forward to my coupon shopping trips!
I used to watch "Extreme Couponing" on TV and thought these ladies were crazy for how excited they got about coupons.
But I can honestly say that I am right there with them now!
Ask my husband.

The hardest thing about couponing and eating healthy is that most of the items that go on sale are UNHEALTHY. I am usually pretty limited when it comes to food items that I get but I will go crazy on beauty products or household items. When I do buy food, it is usually semi-healthy or I have in mind that I will be donating it to a food drive or something of the like.

I have only been couponing for 2 or so years now.
But, here are some ESSENTIAL things I have learned so far about (non-extreme) couponing:
1. You MUST buy (or obtain) 2 newspapers every Sunday. The coupons in the inserts are valuable!
2. Cut ALL of the coupons from the inserts even if you think you will never use a product listed. I can't tell you how many times I kicked myself for throwing away a coupon!
3. Coupon internet sites are your BFF. But you are only allowed to print a max of 2 coupons per computer.
4. READ the coupons carefully. Sometimes restrictions apply in the fine print that may halt your savings at the checkout line. {and nobody wants that}
5. Make sure you know the coupon policy for the store you are shopping at. Some stores limit your savings!
6. Just because it says "10/$10" doesn't mean you have to buy 10 items. You can get as many or as little as you want for $1. But be careful. Some stores (*cough* Walgreens *cough*) make it more expensive if you don't buy the amount listed. Publix and CVS {my loves} are different in that way.
7. Most stores allow you to use 1 manufacturers coupon and 1 store coupon in the purchase of an item.

As you "practice" couponing and make mistakes {like I did}, you will learn your own tips and tricks of the trade but those were just a few essentials.

Now, the basic rule of couponing is to find an item on SALE and match that item with a COUPON. This doubles your savings :)
Every week, I plan to post my shopping trips (as early as possible) so that you guys can get the same deals I do!

I mainly do my shopping at Publix {where shopping is a pleasure} and CVS.
I love, love, love, love CVS!
If you play your cards right, you can get some great deals! But be careful, if you shop at CVS without buying sale items, you will actually pay more than most places. That's how they get you!

Weekly ads for Publix come out on Thursdays of every week. CVS's weekly ads come out on Sundays. They are usually in the Sunday newspaper, but if not, you can find them at the front of the store or on their website.

Before I discuss my shopping trips, here is some lingo I will be using so it doesn't confuse you:

$1/2 = "A dollar off when you buy two of the items listed on the coupon"
4/$4 = "4 items for $4" [indicates a sale price]
MFR = "Manufacturer Coupon" {the ones you would find in your newspaper inserts/online}
BOGO = "Buy one item, get the second item for free"
BOGO50% = "Buy one item, get the second item for 50% off"
EB = "Extracare Bucks" See below for CVS.

Without further adieu, here it goes.
